White Magic of Freedom
White Magic of Freedom
Author: François-René Rideau
Pages: 266
"White Magic" follows "Black Magic" by the same author. After having enlightened us in a first volume on the black magic undermining postmodern society, François-René Rideau this time takes the opposite prism to highlight the white magic in multiple colors.
The author sees these rich and diverse colors coming from freedom and liberalism, thus perfectly echoing the black magic of the State denounced in the previous volume. To convince us of this, he proceeds in four stages. A first part introduces liberalism as a doctrine and philosophy: let the informed reader not be mistaken, François-René Rideau knows how to find many new angles. For him, the demand for Freedom is strong, which pushes him to make us understand it well. He then draws up an overview of the various confusions encountered, both among liberal authors and among the many detractors.
Then comes the analysis of some strategies intended to put freedom back on board the society of men - so many opportunities to take the reader by surprise again. Finally, he comes to the link between liberalism and economics, which many think is the only one. His attention focuses on the methodology of economic analysis, emphasizing the very rigorous and scientific character, to conclude as to white magic. Here again, the author signs himself with a lively and acerbic tone, a writing where precision prevails. We find the author of "Black Magic", who has swapped the costume of demystifier of socialism for that of bearer of radical liberalism.
